Hello, I am Sabrine Bahmad Kazaz! I am a licensed and registered dietitian who completed her dietetic internship at Khoury hospital and established her own clinic, the Healthy Life Clinic, in 2017, in which I work full time. My main inspiration and motivation are my children, for whom I love to cook and like to provide the best nutrition by using wholesome foods and healthy ingredients. My approach to dieting is quite simple and can be referred to as the “anti-diet” approach, since I strongly believe that food is an essential part of our daily lives. My strategy is consists of teaching my clients how to turn into their own self-dietitians, which ultimately promotes a healthier way of living and a healthier relationship with food. First, I like to rid my clients of any guilt or fear surrounding weight loss by making them feel as if they aren’t “dieting”, with all its negative connotations. Rather, I teach them to be good managers of their daily food choices. Second, I formulate effective diets without increasing the cost or budget on my clients. I achieve this by adapting the diet to the foods they are already used to cooking. In this way, the “diet” can be described as flexible, effective, budget-friendly, and thus sustainable. Controversially, I adore sweets and desert! I even encourage my clients to enjoy the sweets that they love, but with a twist. In other words, I help them shift towards healthier ingredients when making sweets, which ultimately leads to better health while leaving the pleasure unchanged. Moreover, I have particular interest and expertise in analyzing how poor nutrition leads to myriad chronic diseases and health complications, and thus I like to work with people who suffer from health problems or early signs of complications in order to alleviate the challenges they face and create a better quality of life for them. Since giving birth to my baby, I have also become very focused on infant health. My number one tip for you is to avoid trusting and believing everything you read on the internet and social media, as there are countless of wrong pieces of information that get posted by non-professionals. Instead, try to always ask a licensed dietitian who can provide you with the right information and help. I am passionate about my field and love to expand my knowledge and stay up to date with the latest discoveries in nutrition and dietetics, which is the main reason why I participate in Catalyst - the Training Lab meetings that occur every couple of months in Beirut, Lebanon. Catalyst workshops provide healthcare professionals with applied skills and updated evidence-based information to enhance our knowledge. During my free time, I am actively raising awareness in rural communities among school students and children on how to improve their general health and wellbeing by giving lectures and sessions.
